The Chicken Came First
Once upon a time, on a quaint little farm, lived a wonderful chicken with big dreams and bigger charm.
Her name was Chickalina, and she hatched a plan to fly past the coop and enjoy all the land. The other chickens clucked, “You must lay eggs now!” Chickalina just smiled and gave a slight bow.
“I will,” she said kindly, “but just not today. The whole world awaits, I must find my own way”.
And explore she did, she learned, and she grew.
She squawked from great peaks, she sipped from streams blue. She biked through the mountains, and she learned how to code. She read every book and she hiked every road. She studied the stars and learned seven hen dances; she even went skydiving. Oh, she took some bold chances.
“A shame,” said the roosters, “It’s surely too late. Your eggs will not hatch if you dawdle and wait”.
Chickalina grinned smartly and calmly decreed, “I’ve frozen my eggs; they’re waiting for me!”
While others were nesting and flapping around, Chickalina was growing her life and renown. She spoke at chicken conferences, and she met hens worldwide. She built her own business and beamed with great pride.
One day, she was ready, quite stable and wise. She unfroze her eggs and, with joy in her eyes, she warmed them with love, attention, and care, till one quiet morning, a crack broke the air.
Out came a chick, who blinked in the dew, then asked, “Mom, who came first: was it me? Was it you?”
Chickalina cooed softly, then answered the plea, “Little one, I came first, so the first one was me.” And so now we know, from beak down to leg, The chicken came first… because she froze her egg.
